Cappadocia rug (37)

5' 1" x 3' 4" (155 x 102 cm)

Cappadocia rug from central Anatolia,Turkey

Age: circa 1870

Measurements: 5′.1"x3′.4" (155×102 cm)

Cappadocia rugs are very much like Konya rugs:thick pile, large knots, soft color palette and lots of yellow. This particular one has an interesting tree of life design on an abrashed madder field.A light aubergine border surrounds the center. The yellow main border employs multicolor back-to-back  "C" motif. The color variations in the main border are original. There are no minor guards but instead plain brown and ivory lines are present. The wide abrashed side cords and the original ends are intact. All the colors are from natural sources. The condition is good with the exception of a small area having a lower pile then the rest of the rug.A strong, austere and powerful example of its type.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
