Shirvan long rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 11′.0″X3′.7″ (335×109 cm)

The navy ground shows openwork floriated botehs in offset rows.The botehs enclose flowers,color sampler diamonds and feathery trees.At the edge of the field are tiny botehs in red and white.Also in the field are a comb,dates,carnations,an animal,tiny botehs and other interesting elements.The wide navy ground border displays a variety of Kufesque pattern with squares enclosing hooked diamonds and inner octagons.It is flanked by medium blue S borders and there is an outermost red and green keyhole reciprocal band.There is a black and white narrow barber pole line surrounding the whole.At each end is a flatwoven strip in red and beige.The selvedges are original and white is cotton.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
