Shakarlou rug from south west Persia (Iran)

Size: 7′.7″x5′.11″ (231×180 cm)
This totally classic south west Persian tribal rug displays a dark blue field densely covered with stylized ivory slanted leaves,hooked diamonds,pinwheel rosettes,plantal forms,lazy S’s,bug like motifs and many other interesting elements in a wide range of colors.Surrounding the field are colorful triangles which at the ends function like borders.The iconic ivory main border shows chains of hooked octagons along with crossbars and small floating dots.It is flanked by minor borders with connected S’s.There are four barber pole lines present.At each end is a checkerboard pattern in weft float technique in blue and ivory and red and green.The checkerboard end finish at the bottom left is in fact continuous and the visible issue is original.The selvedges are striped in red and green in the Qashqai manner.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.SOLD
