Shakarlou carpet from south west Persia (Iran)

This unusually large south west Persian nomadic carpet shows a rich dark blue field structured by three slander poles anchored by cartouches and with slanted leaves,herringbone motifs,hooked diamonds and rosettes in between.Hooked triangular fillers surround the outer edge of the field.The broad ivory classic main border shows chains of hooked octagons alternating with double head cross bars.The outer light blue minor border displays stylized botehs.There are three red and light green barber pole lines in the border system.At each end of the rug is a wide piled strip consisting of three navy and white and red and green and red and yellow checkerboard lines.The handle is chunky and pliable.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
