This extremely boldly drawn tapestry weave piece shows an ivory ground with a characteristic Herati design emphasizing fish leaves,rosettes and an oblique palmette.The main border displays a multicolor diagonal stripe pattern in green,navy,red,yellow,light brown and blue.The ivory minor borders display reversing fan palmettes.A green and red stepped comb pattern outer border frames the whole.The weave is very fine and the warp is wool.All the colors are from natural sources.The handle is very fine and pliable.The piece is like a handkerchief.There are many small holes but because of the design they don’t show much.
