Qashqai rug from southwest Persia (Iran)

Size: 5′.3″x3′.6″ (160×107 cm)

The navy blue field shows a bipartite stepped pole medallion of lozenge form elements enclosing smaller diamonds with cruciform or stepped decor.In the field are similar diamond shape devices along with smaller octagons and crosses.The stepped corners are diagonally colored in red,yellow and blue.The ivory main border hosts reversing fan palmettes.The minor borders show diagonally striped red and blue barber pole lines and there is a similar bitonal yellow,brown and aubergine band.At each end are red and green and black and ivory end panels.The wrapped selvedges are in south west manner.All the colors are from natural sources.The wool is soft and glossy.The piece is in good pile and condition.
