Qashqai rug from south west Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1885

Size: 6′.1″x3′.4″ (185×102 cm)

The navy subfield has lateral zigzags and encloses five polychrome mosaic diamonds,striated leaves,tiny botehs,pinwheels,palmettes,squares,triangles and ivory boxes with back bone motifs.It is set on an ivory field with corners displaying additional serrated leaves,rosettes and boxes.At the side of the ivory field are tilted red hooks.The border system consists of an ivory central with connected diamonds and brackets and two red ground reversing fan palmettes.There are four solid blue lines present.The original selvedges are red and green.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
