Qashqai piled bag from south west Persia (Iran)

Age: circa 1880

Size: 2′.2″x1′.7″ (66×48 cm)

The navy field employs diagonals of lightly stylized flowers with triangular blossoms and side hooks in green,yellow,shades of red and blue.In addition there are colorful botehs and tiny multicolor diamonds.The ivory main border shows a meander with leaves and is flanked by red and green narrow barber pole lines.The piece is meaty and pliable.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The red selvedges are intact and original.The piece is in good condition.
