Perepedil rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district

Dimensions: 4′.1"x3′.1" (124×94 cm)

This small but extremely finely woven Perepedil employs the classic ram’s horn and quadruped pattern,all on a navy field.The horizontally positioned ram’s horn elements have an unusual spearhead design.There are five significant patterned borders,starting with an innermost ivory stripe with a zig-zag motif,a multicolor banded sectional pattern,in the next,star and diagonal bar main border,another sectional band and finally a red and yellow keyhole reciprocal.The colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition and has new selvages.The original kilim ends are present.
