Luri bag from south west Persia (Iran)

Size: 3′.6″x1′.10″ (117×56 cm)
The tomato red permeates both the field and the stepped diamond medallion which is centered by a multicolor star.In the corners are ivory octagons or lesser rosettes.In the field and in the medallion are small quincunx rosettes.The medallion has an inner barber pole stripe.The ivory main border shows a red and yellow meander with decorative triangles.There is a yellow innermost band with rosettes and botehs.At one end is a navy and ivory checkerboard line followed by colorful soumak closure tabs and finally a weft float strip.The back is colorfully striped with ivory,red,yellow,green,navy and dark brown.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The wool is soft and of high quality.The piece is in good pile and condition.
