Kuba rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

The dark blue ground displays a very unusual pattern of three gigantic,geometric tulips/prayer niches supported by various cartouches and centered by a burnt orange hexogram.There are several Turkmen style nested ashiks,stylized medallions and a pair of very unusual motifs.Lazy S’s,rosettes,diamonds,combs,dots,quincunxes and pendants fill the ground.The ivory main border features colorful rosettes and double triangle separators.The outer striped minor border and five bitonal barber pole lines are in the framing system.The kilim technique brown side cords are wool except for a very small blue/ivory section seen in Kuba rug selvedge.At each end is a soumak finishes followed by a densely braided strip.All the colors are from natural sources The piece is in good condition with minor evenly low sections.The rug is naturally shaped.
