Kuba rug from eastern Caucasus,Kuba district,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 4′.7″x3′.0″ (140×91 cm)

The navy ground displays six ivory “gooseneck”motifs.Up the center are ivory medallions and separating ashiks (sawtoothed medallions).There are similar medallions and ashiks in red and pistachio green in the defined reserves.The ivory main border shows disjoint stars.The innermost red surround displays floating rosettes,while the two blue ground minor borders,both feature ribbon pattern.There are five narrow barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is a beige flatwoven band followed by a dense macrame strip.All the colors are from natural sources.The handle is soft and the piece is in good condition
