Kozak piled bag from western Anatolia (Turkey)

Size: 1′.4″x1′.6″ (41×46 cm)
This chunky textured small Anatolian bagface shows a mixed blue/green field centered by a star,eight lappets and a green and red hooked surround.In the corners are supporting small and colorful triangles.The ivory main border hosts an alternation of rosettes and composite X’s and lozenges.There are two bitonal barber pole lines in the border system.One selvedge is broadly banded in red and straw while the other is solid red.At each end the red plainweaves are folded under.The handle is soft and meaty.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
