Konagkend rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 5′.3″x3′.6″ (160×107 cm)

The extremely rare camel field displays a small,compact version of the classic Konagkend arabesque lattice design.There are rows and columns of small flattened rosettes edging the field.Similar rosettes appear in the field,along with five dates.In between the rosettes are the Konagkend pattern is a line with outward facing black triangles.The green main border shows a Kufesque pattern with knots and brackets.It is flanked by blue and black keyhole reciprocal minor borders.There are four black and yellow and four red and white barber pole lines in the border system.The weave is fine and crisp.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition and the camel ground has slightly lower pile than the rest of the rug.SOLD
