Kazak miniature prayer rug from southwest Caucasus

Size: 2′.9″x2′.0″ (84×61 cm)

This unusual miniature Caucasian prayer rug features a blue field with a stepped red medallion.Within the medallion is a conforming black stepped sub medallion with a small hexagon focus.Supporting the medallion are four quartered diamonds.The faceted niche arch is set above a star,a box and a comb.The ivory spandrels have basal hooks in various colors.There are six small diamonds hanging from the top border.The blue main border shows floating quartered octagons.The minor borders both present red and white reciprocal triangles.There is a narrow dotted line surrounding the whole.The colors are vibrant and the condition of this attractive piece is good.
