Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

The tomato red field displays two quartered and hooked diamonds within conforming ivory and green diamonds and are joint by a blue wasted frame.The triangles in the corners enclose animals.The ivory main border hosts a hooked traingle pattern in which each motif shelters a small animal.The flanking blue minor borders both show floating octagons.There are four red barber pole lines and the innermost transitions into the field.At one end the barber pole lines become a repeating quincunx pattern.At each end is a beige macrame band proceeded by a red plainweave strip.The end shows an additional bitonal weft pattern and all the braided end tassels are intact and accented by pile wrappings.The wool is soft and velvety.The handle is chunky and meaty.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition.
