The abrashed warm madder red field of this collectable,smaller than usual,squarish Karatchoph Kazak rug displays the iconic ivory Karatchoph medallion embadded in a rectangle of tiny squares.At the center is a beveled abrashed green octagon with a central red square.Pairs of hooks,rectangles,octagons and smaller interesting elements decorate the ivory reserve.Above and below are four ivory boxes,each with nine stars.In addition,there are squares with plantal forms.The beautifully abrashed green main border is decorated with the ever popular slant leaf and chalice pattern,while the flanking minor borders show red and ivory reciprocal triangles.There are several solid lines in the border system.The weave is tight and quite fine for a Kazak rug.The pile is high and the handle is chunky and meaty.All the colors are from natural and vegetable sources.The condition of this charming piece is good.SOLD
