Karagashli rug from eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 7′.2″x4′.6″ (218×137 cm)

This classic Karagashli displays a pole medallion of three stepped multicolor hexagons terminated by red palmettes with ivory cartouche centers.The royal blue field utilizes stars,snowflakes,various boxes,octagons,rosettes,tiny animals and abstract flower forms as decorative accents.The characteristic gold main border has a colorful double hook pattern and is flanked by dark navy minors with polychrome rosette chains.The innermost and outermost ivory guard stripes have detached barred “S” motifs.There are two red and white barber pole lines present.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition is very good.SOLD
