Fachralo Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Age: dated 1290=1873

Size: 4′.10″x3′.8″ (147×112 cm)

This classic Fachralo prayer Kazak rug shows a tomato madder field with floating polychrome geometric palmettes.The date panel at the top of the field read 1290.In the center is a blue re-entrant and pointed blue niche area;there is a very interesting partial blue abrash at the top of the panel.It encloses a red octagram medallion and conforming ivory sub medallion with a square in the center.The main ivory border displays the classic Caucasian slanted leaf and chalice motif.The blue minor borders feature small crosses.There are four barber pole lines in the border system and the central panel is bordered by a zig zag strip.All the colors are from natural sources.The rug has a pliable handle.The condition of this attractive rug is good.SOLD
