Eagle,Chelaberd or Sunburst Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Size: 8′.3″x4′.8″ (251×142 cm)
The tomato red field of this striking Kazak rug shows two powerful radiating eagle medallions in ivory with green cruciform centers.At the center of each medallion is a red,dark blue and ivory motif surrounded with dots.Scattered about are rosettes,X’x and tiny diamonds.At each end of the red field is a yellow comb with colorful one way bird heads.The ivory main border shows connected colorful stars and is flanked by blue and black triangle reciprocal minor borders.There are four barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is a madder red plainweave band.All the colors are from natural sources.The selvedges are original and intact.This attractive piece is in good pile and condition.
