Chodor fragment from west Turkmenistan

Age: circa 1850

Dimensions: 2′.7″x2′.8″ (79×81 cm)

The columns of torba type guls quartered in red and ivory decorate a purple ground and are separated by Chemche minor Guls.The main border consists of multicolor panels each enclosing in stylized flowers.The purple elem displays pair of ashiks in red and ivory.There is a narrow upper elem with simplified trefoil devices.All the colors are from natural sources including the green.The weave is compact and the condition of the fragment is good.SOLD
