Bordjalou prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

The abrashed madder red field of this classic Bordjalou prayer Kazak rug shows a lower re-entrant outline in light blue matched with a similar upper mihrab arch.Centering the field are two fringed light blue diamonds in different sizes,supported by green octagon and hooked cartouches,along with small multicolor squares.In the spandrels are two similar cartouches.The double main border system hosts identical reciprocals in red and green and dark brown and ivory.There are six barber pole lines and three solid lines present.The selvedges are partially banded in pile colors.The handle is soft and pliable.The weave is fine and all the colors are from natural sources.The rug is in good condition with slightly low pile in the center.
