Baluch prayer rug from north east Persia (Iran)

Size: 6′.2″x2′.8″ (188×81 cm)

The attractively abrashed camel ground displays a central hooked column flanked by reversing botehs,under a square shouldered arch with a hooked diamond and a comb design.In the camel spandrel panels are stylized hands.Scattered in the field are small animals in various colors,little quincunxes and other geometric motifs.The navy ground main border displays snowflakes and is contoured around the niche and straight across above the spandrels.The vine red borders employ connected S patterns.There is a narrow striped outermost band,an ivory reciprocal narrow border,four barber pole lines and an innermost stripe in a diagonal pattern.At each end is a chevron design extra piled panel.There are unusual light blue details as well as interesting small motifs.The colors are all from natural sources.The rug is in good condition except for minor wear.The dark brown is corroded as expected.SOLD
