Baluch bag from north east Persia (Iran)

Size: 2′.9″x2′.11″ (84×89 cm)

The dark blue field shows a succession of stars in octagons and encloses a square dark aubergine subfield centered on a similar octagon.The field is also decorated with smaller octagons and other geometric shapes.The ivory main border shows a connected Z pattern on the sides and oblique blue leaves along the ends.At the top end is an extra stripe with a diamond and bar pattern.There are two keyhole reciprocal minor borders and two dotted barber pole lines in the border system.At the top end is a wide flatweave band in red and dark brown with supplementary weft decoration.At the bottom end is an ivory and dark brown strip decorated in weft float technique.The wool is soft and the handle is pliable.The colors are vivid and there are details in fuchsin color which blend in well.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
