Afshar rug from south east Persia (Iran)

This extremely striking south east Persian tribal rug shows a red field decorated with octagons,palmettes,flowers,botehs and other interesting elements.It supports a navy blue stepped sub field which encloses a red four point medallion.The honey yellow main border hosts chains of stylized flowers.It is flanked by blue minor borders decorated with connected tiny red diamonds.There are four narrow barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is an extra pile strip with a colorful octagon pattern.At the top end is a final pile line with a multicolor stripe design.The selvedges are striped in red and green.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is finely woven.The condition is good except for the bottom stripe line is missing.
