This is a finely woven south east Persian tribal scatter with a blue field centered by a tall red subfield cartouche enclosing a navy tripartite pole medallion. The three medallions are generously hooked and display palmette crosses. The subfield and field both display peacocks, rosettes, hooked diamonds, plantal forms and octagons.More peacocks inhabit the borders:the inner red with a boteh and quatrefoil design and the outer ivory with cartouches. The yellow inner border features a reversing umbrella pattern.Among the other borders are a quincunx strip, two barber pole lines,a triangle innermost and two navy rosette stripes. The selvedges are striped in red and green. The handle is soft and pliable. All the colors are from natural sources. The piece is in good condition.
