Although Khamseh weavers prodominantly wove smaller rugs, one sometimes encounters a large carpet such as this one with an ivory ground and a broken diagonal pattern of botehs and vines. This motif is derived from Persian 19th century shawl textiles. The red border has a rosette, boteh and vine pattern. The yellow outer minor employs the popular geometric arabesque design. The ends have the characteristic Fars chessboard pattern and there are striped wide plain weave ends. The rug is in very good condition.

THROUGH OUR EFFORTS TO PROVIDE THE HIGHEST QUALITY IMAGES, WE USE VERY HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS. IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE WHOLE RUG PLEASE TRY REFRESHING THE PAGE – SOME LONG RUGS MAY NOT FIT WITHOUT ZOOMING.
