Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Size: 7′.8″x 4′.4″ (234×132 cm)

The madder red field shows three complete navy and green medallions,each with a tall rectangular tender developing palmettes.Each medallion hosts numerous rosettes.There are four stylized botehs in the field and at each end are four wheel like motifs as well as small diamonds.The field is edged by small stepped triangles.The ivory main border shows characteristic star and bar repeating pattern and is flanked by black and blue triangle reciprocal minor borders and four red and yellow barber pole lines.The pile is high and the handle is chunky.The colors are vivid.The red wool selvedges are original.The piece is in good condition.
