Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus.
Age: circa 1870
Size: 6′.1″x4′.1″ (185×124 cm)
This large and graphically fantastic tribal rug shows two individuals along with stars and palmettes,all supporting the strikingly abrashed floating green niche panel.At the center of the field is a layered ivory and red cartouche medallion.There is a zig zag band surrounding the niche.The ivory main border hosts triangles edged with double stepped leaves.The flanking blue minor borders both employ colorful diamonds.There are four barber pole lines in the border system.The red selvedges are original and the pile is of high quality.All the colors are from natural sources.At each end is a red kilim finish.The top end has a warp macrame band.The piece is in good pile and condition.
