Konagkend rug from Kuba district,eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 5′.5″x4′.3″ (165×130 cm)

The navy field shows a particularly close characteristic ivory Konagkend lattice design.The green Kufesque main border employs ivory running pattern of rosettes and brackets.It is flanked by multicolor rosettes minor borders.There are blue tertiary borders with ribbon meanders.There are five dotted and two solid narrow lines in the border system.The center is surrounded by triangle reciprocals.At each end is a narrow flatwoven band followed by a warp net.The weave is fine and the handle is leathery.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good pile and condition.
