Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

Size: 4′.7″x3′.8″ (140×112 cm)

This iconic south Caucasian prayer rug shows a rich madder red field decorated with stylized bugs,and displaying a dark blue niche and a re-entrant sub-field.At the center is an ivory cartouche embedded in a conforming red medallion.Additionally in the sub-field are rosettes and more stylized bugs.The sub-field is edged by a teal band.The ivory slant leaf and chalice border is flanked by red and blue and yellow and blue triangle reciprocals.There are four barber pole lines in the border system.At the bottom end is a red flatwoven finish.Square format makes this prayer rug especially attractive.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.SOLD
