Yuruk rug from eastern Anatolia,possibly Kagizman area,Turkey

Age: circa 1880

Measurements: 6′.4"x3′.10" (193x117cm)

The red field is decorated with three connected hexagonal navy medallions surrounded with white hooks,multicolor triangles and flowers.The attractive ivory main border employs an unusual Anatolian design and is flanked by rare minor guards:the outer with colorful "S" design and the inner with connected lines on a green field.There is an interesting abrash at the bottom end of the main border.The colors are from natural sources.The condition is good and the handle is pliable.The original ends and sides are present including the "jijim" flatwoven end finishings.
