Tianjin (Tinetsin) carpet from north east China.

Age: circa 1920

Size: 9′.7"x8′.3" (292×251 cm)

This colorful Art Deco Chinese carpet displays:below,a terrestrial dragon on a red scale form ground;and above a celestial dragon on a green field with cloud ornamentation.The wide main border has a rainbow zig zag pattern and is edged by multicolor stylized cloud shapes.Both dragons have five claws on each foot, blue scales,long mustachios and amusingly fierce visages.This is a heavy and a strikingly decorative carpet with lots of live and vibrant colors.The ends and sides are original and the pile is good except for the red and green sections where there are some wear.SOLD
