Shirvan runner from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

This extremely decorative Shirvan runner with its unusual golden camel ground is decorated with randomly colored snowflakes in ivory,two shades of red,blue,brown,yellow,and light camel.The ivory chalice and slant leaf main border continues the polychromy of the field.There are innumerable tiny dots,quincunxes,combs,rosettes,diamonds and boxes sprinkled about.The dark brown minor borders are closely decorated with colorful stylized rosettes and there are four two tone red and ivory barber pole lines.Also four solid medium blue lines are present.In particular the top end kilim is striped in shades of blue and ivory while the bottom end is plain ivory.The colors are lively and harmonious.The knotted ends and sides are original and so is the rest of the rug.
