Shirvan rug from eastern Caucasus

Age: circa 1890

Measurements: 7′.5"x3′.9" (226×114 cm)

Ascribable to Shirvan with its white kilim ends and dark brown warp, this attractive rug displays a closely drawn Afshan pattern wholly dominated by ivory goosenecks.Although the field design is mostly seen in Kuba Karagashli rugs,Shirvans also adopted this pattern. The ivory crab main border is one of the most attractive Caucasian borders and is flanked by brown ground carnation minor guards. There are four red and ivory barber pole stripes. All the colors are from natural sources. The rug is in very good condition including the original ends and sides.SOLD
