Konya long rug from central Anatolia (Turkey)

Age: circa 1860

Size: 9′.5"x4′.5" (287×135 cm)

There are two reds on the field and in two of the three medallions.The central medallion and other accents are in a celadon green.All motifs have hooked ends or are completely edged with them.These latter are the split triangle side fillers.The honey yellow main border employs a central bar with angular rosettes and three point floral elements.The minor borders are both in triangular reciprocal patterns in red and blue and in ivory and aubergine.There are three barber pole lines and each medallion has a barber pole border.At the ends are red lappet panels of pentagons with tree internal motifs.At the very ends are flatwoven kilim finishings.All the colors are from natural sources.The ends and sides are original.The pile is good in general but in some sections it is down to the knot and there are several faded old repairs.SOLD
