Kazak rug from Armenia,southwest Caucasus

Size: 7′.3"x4′.10" (221×147 cm)

On a tomato red ground is situated a large ivory cartouche medallion with a square emerald green submedallion and it is surrounded by four kufesque boxes and colorful rosettes.There are ten tiny birds accenting the field.The ivory main border displays multicolor stylized square medallion with a particularly attractive green.There are two undulating vine minor borders,a green inner border of polychrome diamonds and fine bitonal barber pole lines.A similar barber pole line edges the central cartouche.The rug has a compact and fine weave.At the top end there is a red kilim strip followed by a solid macrame band.All the colors are from natural sources.The condition of this cheerful rug is good.SOLD
