The rich red ground features an octagonal, nested, hooked medallion in red, green and ivory, with a central dark blue square and a hooked diamond motif. This medallion style is particularly unusual in Karatchoph large weavings. The corners of the medallion are squared off in small mosaic checkerboard. There are four ivory hooked boxes, each with nine stars and eight slightly smaller squares with volute patterns. In addition, there are stars, animals, rosettes, octagons, quincunxes, humanoid figures and lazy S’s in the field. The blue main border hosts a modulare four flower design. There are flanking minor borders with dark brown and ivory keyhole reciprocal patterns and four red and yellow narrow barber pole lines. The red is particularly clear and saturated. All the colors are from natural sources. The piece is in good condition.SOLD
