Fachralo prayer Kazak rug from southwest Caucasus

This oversize Fachralo prayer Kazak rug displays a red field with matching spandrels and a green lower re-entrant panel.A hooked ivory hexagram medallion displays a confirming dark blue sub medallion with a hexagon and a dark focus.More hooks are present in the medallion.A light burnt orange band forms a square shouldered mihrab arch.In addition,there are hooks,cartouches,stylized palmettes,small octagons and other geometric elements scattered around.The attractive ivory main border shows a meander of extremely stylized palmettes and leaves.It is flanked by blue and green minor borders both with stepped discontinuous diamond patterns in various colors.There are four barber pole lines in the border system.At the top end is a red flat weave band followed by a dense macrame strip,while at the bottom is a slightly narrow red plain weave.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good pile and condition.
