Daghestan rug from eastern Caucasus,west coast of the Caspian Sea

Size: 5′.4″x3′.2″ (163×97 cm)

This sweet Daghestan rug displays an ivory field decorated with a repeating floral palmette pattern in red,dark blue,light blue,green and yellow.Pairs of leaves particularly encompass little palmettes.At each side of the field are small floral elements.The dark brown main border features a chain of rosettes and large red triangle fillers.The flanking minor borders employ diagonally striped sections.There are eight barber pole lines in the border system.At each end is a beige flatwoven strip followed by a knotted warp net.All the colors are from natural sources.The piece is in good condition.
